- Get the Cinque Terre Card for unlimited train travel between villages
- Visit in shoulder season — summer is overwhelmingly crowded
- Try trofie al pesto (the pasta was invented in Liguria) and fresh anchovies
- Hike at least one trail section — Vernazza to Monterosso is the classic
- Stay overnight in a village to experience Cinque Terre after the day-trippers leave
- Sciacchetra dessert wine is the local specialty — sweet and rare
Getting There & Around
Trains are the lifeline — the Cinque Terre Express runs between all five villages every 15-20 minutes. Cinque Terre Card covers trains and trails. Boats connect the villages in summer (not accessible). No cars in the villages. Hiking trails are the scenic alternative. La Spezia is the gateway train hub.
