Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Meera Tours is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee we provide equal access to all users.

Standards We Follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, color blindness)
  • Hearing impairments
  • Motor disabilities
  • Cognitive and learning disabilities

Accessibility Features

Conversational Interface

Meera’s core experience is a text-based conversation. This means:

  • Screen reader compatible: All chat messages are rendered as semantic HTML that works with popular screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
  • Keyboard navigable: The entire chat interface can be operated with a keyboard alone — no mouse required
  • Voice input supported: Built-in voice mode lets you speak your travel requests instead of typing
  • No time-limited interactions: There are no timeouts or timed responses that require quick action

Travel Booking Accessibility

Meera helps travelers with accessibility needs find suitable options:

  • Tell Meera about your accessibility requirements during onboarding, and she will remember them for all future searches
  • Hotel searches can filter for wheelchair-accessible rooms, roll-in showers, visual alarms, and other accessibility features
  • Flight searches account for special assistance needs (wheelchair assistance, service animals, extra legroom)
  • Transfer and ground transportation options include accessible vehicle types

Visual Design

  • Color contrast: All text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Resizable text: The interface supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • Focus indicators: Clear visual focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • No flashing content: No content flashes more than 3 times per second

Content Structure

  • Proper heading hierarchy throughout all pages
  • ARIA landmarks and labels for navigation regions
  • Descriptive link text (no “click here” links)
  • Form inputs with associated labels
  • Error messages clearly associated with their form fields

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, there are some current limitations we are working to address:

  • Some third-party travel provider content (hotel descriptions, airline policies) may not meet our accessibility standards as it comes from external sources
  • Map-based visualizations in search results may not be fully accessible to screen reader users — text alternatives are provided where possible
  • PDF booking confirmations from travel providers may vary in accessibility
